Nine Myths about “Healthy” Eating.
In our efforts to get thin we frequently go too far. Instead of a perfect figure, we can develop a vitamin deficiency, gastritis, and other serious complications. Combining various myths about healthy eating from magazines, TV and advertisements is not the way to find and maintain a healthy diet. Listening to the advice of a health care professional, who is knowledgeable about nutrition, is a much better option – that way you can have that healthy, radiant body you desire without sacrificing your well being.
Myth #1:
You should avoid reading or watching TV when you eat – it can lead to undigested food, or even gastritis.
In fact, doctors and dieticians say that watching TV while eating has no negative effects on digestion. People that eat in front of a TV screen are often in no hurry to be somewhere, and chew their food more thoroughly into smaller pieces. This makes the food easier to digest. Those who eat on the run have a much higher chance of developing gastritis.
In a lot of American families, night time is the time for relaxation and getting together with the family after a long day at work. Many families enjoy eating dinner in front of their TV. Watching TV while you eat is not an issue as long as you take your time to eat and don’t overeat. Eating in front of the TV only becomes a problem when you mindlessly eat as much as you can, up until the movie or show is over. Eating like this will definitely cause weight gain. Watch your portions, and if you spend time with them at the dinner table instead of in front of the TV.
